Penske Commercial Vehicles has delivered 38 MAN A95 double-deck buses to Transport for New South Wales.
Launched on Sunday in Sydney by the NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, the new B-Line route, running between the Sydney CBD and the Northern Beaches, will be serviced by the modern heavy-duty three-axle double-deck buses.
The MAN A95 ultra low floor bus chassis is based upon MAN’s existing urban bus chassis range and features the well-recognized Euro 5 10.5L MAN D20 horizontal inline six cylinder engine with compound turbocharging and intercooling that delivers 320 hp (235 kW) with 1,200 ft-lb (1,600 Nm) of torque available from as low as 1,000 RPM.
“The extremely low levels of driveline noise and vibration, along with low exhaust emissions, benefit both the environment and passengers,” said Clint Stoermer, National Sales and Service Manager – Bus, Penske Commercial Vehicles.
“The A95 chassis is equipped with a ZF EcoLife six-speed automatic transmission with integrated hydraulic retarder, all of which maximise operating economy and improve service life.
“The combination of stabilisers on all three axles with an extremely low center of gravity means the on road handling and passenger ride comfort of the A95 double=deck is simply unequalled.
“And when combined with the latest braking system technology, which includes electronic braking system (EBS) as well as electronic stability program (ESP) and roll over protection (ROP), it all makes for an extremely safe and comfortable driver and passenger experience.”
