Penske Australia, the longest-serving Allison Transmission distributor in Australia, has now been endorsed to establish the Allison Cross-Drive Transmission Channel Pilot Program for the assembly, testing, and sustainment of the X1100 series transmission in-country.

The Allison Transmission Channel Pilot Program includes both current and future fleets for the Australian Army, prime contractors, and other international end-users, and is currently underway across multiple platforms including the M1A1 MBT, SPH Huntsman, under armour breaching and bridging vehicles (Land 8160), and other potential opportunities such as Hanwha’s Redback vehicle.

The support of the X1100 transmission will be complemented by the establishment of a specifically designed multi-purpose transmission testbed encompassing both 3 and 5 Series, the first of its kind.

“We are thrilled to have been selected by Allison Transmission to establish the Channel Pilot Program,” said Ian Arnell, projects and business manager – defence programmes group, Penske Australia.

“The development of industrial capabilities in Australia is fundamental to a sovereign sustainment capability.

“Initially commenced last year, we have been working closely with our industry partners to ensure we are in the strategic position to deliver the capabilities required.”
