Penske Australia has awarded Scott Simpson as the Detroit Master Technician for 2017.

A technician from Penske Australia's Hunter Valley branch, Scott was the winner of the annual skills test which sees the best Detroit technicians from around the business compete for the spoils.

Displaying his highly tuned diagnosis and repair skills, Scott edged out five other finalists in the final round on Friday which included major diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks, assessed by a panel of judges.

The in-house competition is open to all Penske Detroit Guild members in Australia and New Zealand and offers technicians an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and be recognised as the leading Detroit technician.

“Penske provides comprehensive training to all of our technicians and the Master Technician award is a great way to recognise our talented staff who excel in the workplace,” said Bob Akers, National Technical Training Manager.

“At Penske our philosophy is to ensure our customers come first. Our world-class technicians are key to achieving this, providing excellent customer service.

“Our Detroit-loyal customers expect the best when they visit one of our many branches along with the highest levels of service from our factory-trained technicians, and that is what they are presented with.”

As part of the prize, Scott received an all-expenses paid trip to the USA including a full Detroit factory experience.
